Inside a lesson

Pictures, checks, a real task and a podcast

Every lesson runs the same stops, so you always know where you are, and it ends in a tool you can use at work.

From Caching. Commit to an answer before you see the reasoning.

Quick check

Which of these caches can you not clear from your side once a copy is stored there?

Hit: about 1 ms API Redis article:1001 1. GET key 2. hit: value Miss: about 40 ms API Redis article:1001 1. GET key 2. miss (nil) 5. SET EX 300 Postgres 3. SELECT 4. row
Cache-aside. On a hit, one Redis round trip answers the request. On a miss, the API also queries Postgres and then stores the row in Redis for 300 seconds, so the next request for article:1001 is a hit.
