Capstone project for Build and Launch a Site with AI

Launch Mangrove Kitchen (or your own site)

Imran at Mangrove Market wants a small recipes-and-offers site, Mangrove Kitchen, to test whether recipes built around the weekly offers bring people back. Visitors read recipes; members sign in with e-mail, save favourite recipes and tick a box to get the weekly offers e-mail later. Build it, or your own idea of the same size, with an AI coding agent: a Next.js site in a GitHub repository, a Supabase database with sign-in and row-level security on every table, and a live deployment on Vercel. You write no code by hand, but you check every step: commit after each working step, test sign-in and access rules as two different users on the live site, and keep every secret key out of the code and the browser.

What you hand in

  1. A live site on Vercel (a vercel.app address is fine) where a visitor can sign up, sign in and save a favourite
  2. A public GitHub repository with a README, the SQL migrations the agent wrote, and at least eight small commits
  3. A build log: the instructions you gave the agent for three steps, what it changed and one thing you had to correct
  4. A safety check: which keys exist, where each one lives, how row-level security was tested, and that two-factor sign-in is on for every account

Check your work

Tick each item when your project meets it. Be strict: this is the rubric the reviewer uses.

  • The live site works: sign up, sign in, save a favourite and see it again after signing out and back in
  • Every table has row-level security, and the write-up shows a test as a second user who cannot see the first user's favourites
  • No secret key is in the repository, its history or the browser; the secret key is only in Vercel's environment variables
  • The repository has small commits with clear messages and the migrations as SQL files
  • Supabase's Site URL and redirect URLs point at the live address, so sign-in e-mails open the live site
  • The build log shows short, specific instructions to the agent and at least one correction you made after reading its change
  • The write-up lists every account with two-factor sign-in and says what each service costs today (free tier or plan)

Model answer

The model answer opens once your capstone passes the review, so you can compare your work with an outline of a strong submission.

Hand in your capstone

Your links are checked automatically, then the work is scored against the rubric above, item by item, with comments. A pass counts toward the course certificate and shows on your profile.
